In 2014/15 we reduced our energy consumption by 5% and our water use by 12%.
Somerset Film is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and implementing best practice for the benefit the environment. We are fortunate to have as our trustee and our champion in this Andrew Buchanan, who co-wrote the Codes of Best Practice in Sustainable Filmmaking with Larry Engel.
We monitor and measure energy consumption and travel to calculate our carbon emissions using the Creative Industry Green tools provided by Julie's Bicycle. Through our environmental action plan we implement actions to reduce consumption, offsetting where appropriate.

In 14/15 we up-skilled 727 people through courses, surgeries and drop ins and supported 84 schools through InspirED. We employed 26 artists and filmmakers in addition to our core team. We generated a turnover of £302k and leveraged investment of £220k into Somerset.
In our business plan we have a number of strategic objectives relating to the economy. Our goals include:
* Helping more people have a voice and gain skills through high quality training and participation opportunities, which develop digital, media and creative skills alongside a wide range of transferable skills
* Nurturing and retaining the local talent base through production opportunities and profile raising
* Building a diverse talent pool, workforce and network by employment, freelance opportunities, signposting to mentoring, dialogue and exchange
* Strategic provision for young people to explore film and creative technical innovation across the artforms alongside opportunities to gain qualifications, work experience placements and creative apprenticeships
