The Women By Women project gave young women and men from Somerset the chance to discover, and share with the county, women who have played important roles within the past, as well as inspiring women who are doing great things in today’s’ world!

During the course of the project (which was carried out from summer 2015 until Autumn 2016) Our group of participants and volunteers worked together to make a documentary film, photographic exhibition and book, documenting what was discovered to help inspire generations of young people within Somerset.

The project was open to young men and women aged between 14 and 25. All activities were free with thanks to support from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Sedgemoor District Council and Arts Award - Trinity College London.

“Thanks to money raised by National Lottery players we’re delighted to fund this project, recognising and celebrating the important contributions that women have made in the past, and inspiring young people today with strong and positive role models.” Nerys Watts, Head of Heritage Lottery Fund South West. In partnership with Somerset Rural Youth Project. With thanks to Somerset Heritage and funded by Heritage Lottery Fund, Sedgemoor District Council and Arts Award.
