Support Us

Founding Friends

In 2012 we appealed to everyone who had worked with us in the past - either as a participant, a colleague, a commissioner or as a friend - to signal their support for the building of Engine Room 2.0. We delighted to report that many, many people came forward.

Becoming a Founding Friend was not intended to take up a lot of time – our request was simply to help us spread the word, or support our forthcoming e-petitions, or attend one of our fund raisers, or buy some of our services, or bring their expertise to help us on a voluntary basis, or to persuade friends and relatives to make a donation to the cause!

As a result we now have we now have almost £325,000 thanks to funds raised by volunteers and friends and supporters holding events and volunteering at Glastonbury Festival.

At present we're asking our Founding Friends and new supporters to help us talk to local companies about about sponsoring part of the new Engine Room, or supporting our activities in Somerset.

For example, a company that values heritage and tradition might adopt our new Peoples Archive, or a law firm might support business coaching. In return, we would help raise their profile, provide them with creative and training opportunities for staff and their families, and develop unique video content with them.

We’re sure there are other ways our friends could help us to raise money that we haven’t though of yet so please, if you are interested and can help, please do get in touch.

With your help we plan to take The Engine Room to the next level!

Building work has now finished on phase one of our expansion thanks to support from Arts Council England, Sedgemoor District Council and Bridgwater Town Council. This money has helped fund essential foundation and structural work and has green-lit a fit out for a multi-purpose space on the ground floor.

We now need your help to secure the second phase of this exciting development. Can you help us to raise the next £80,000 to get us to the next floor? This money will be used to provide an all important lift and staircase to the first and second floor, where we aim to provide a new community meeting / learning spaces and a further studio space.

Thanks for your support.
