InspirED Podcasting Workshop for Primary Educators

Wednesday, Jul 8, 2020 -

Time: 6:00pm - 8:00pm

In response to what can only be described as an unprecedented increase in screen-time InspirED Somerset has put together a Podcasting Workshop for Primary Educators, with hopes of inspiring exceptional auditory learning experiences, let by Creative Technologist Richard Tomlinson. Many young children learn about the world around them via physical devices such as computers, digital cameras and sound recorders. The challenge for teachers is the provision of effective and developmentally appropriate learning experiences that interest, enthuse and inspire children to engage in the curriculum. Podcasting is one method by which the teacher can support meaningful learning in young children.     Well produced and researched podcasts can:
  • provide interesting new content for pupils
  •  offer enhanced learning for children who find it difficult to engage in the curriculum
  • make learning more convenient for pupils (on demand access)
  • be listened to repeatedly and aid long-term memory
In this workshop we’ll be looking at:
  • the technical process required to record and publish podcasts
  • why podcasts are proving so popular and why now is the time to start producing
  • podcast formats and themes, specifically relating to the primary education sector
This Workshop is FREE for InspirED member schools and £25 for non-members. To find out more about how to become an InspirED member please the InspirED website. To book contact: info@somersetfilm.com

Please Note - upon registering, you will be sent a confirmation email. Please check your junk folder if this is your first time booking with us, as we cannot guarantee your confirmation email will arrive in your main inbox folder.

Follow Bridgwater Together on their Facebook page to stay updated and click here to visit the event Facebook page. If you would like to get involved in future events then please contact us. Watch this space for future events or join our mailing list to be updated.

Engine-ius Film Review

Monday, Jul 13, 2020 -

Time: 1:00pm - 1:30pm

The Engine-ius film review takes place on the second monday of every month and seeks to look beyond the images on the screen into the deeper meaning behind the film. We ask questions such as, 'what is this film telling/teaching us?, 'how has it impacted us individually?', and 'does it have the potential to impact us collectively?' This month we're reviewing Michaël Dudok de Wit's The Red Turtle (2016). In a guardian Review Mark kermode describes the film as 'a poignant, wordless tale of a man shipwrecked on a desert island, it boasts a sublime simplicity that unifies its complex elements into a singular, universal voice...eloquent, profound and moving'. Join us at 1pm on Monday the 13th on youtube.com/somersetfilm/ This week's guests James Price (Filmmaker and Animator). Keep an eye on our social media as we'll be revealing our special guest shorty!
