We recognise that not everyone can get to Bridgwater to access The Engine Room so we aim to offer the regular activities held at there to as many people as we can in Somerset through Pop Up events.
This time we’re taking up residence at the recently opened digital resource, The Holman Hub at Cross Chapel Tea Rooms , South Cadbury, thanks to support from South Somerset District Council. The cost is reduced for those interested in accessing the Holman Hub.
This sessions is a chance to get off 'auto' and learn how to shoot portraits, working with a professional model...
Please let us know if you have access requirements as this venue has a number of steps.
What you need to bring: You don't need to bring anything, although you may want to bring:
1 - Notepad & Pen
2 - appropriate clothing for being outdoors for up to an hour.
3 - Your own DSLR or Bridge camera, please do not bring a point and click camera.
What this session will cover: In this 2.5 hour session the first hour we will cover the DSLR camera's buttons, menus and functions, mainly focusing on Shutter Speed, Aperture & ISO so that you can begin to shoot the style of image that you like, rather than the camera being on Auto and making these choices for you. We will then be joined by a model, and go out as a group, each taking turns to work with him/her, while at the same time continuing to be able to ask questions and gain further info. We will then return to The Chapel for the final half an hour and look at some basic editing of your photos in either Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop.
What you'll learn: You'll learn about framing & composition, working with natural/available light, how to get your photos sharp & in focus, how to work with a model as a subject and understand better what your camera is doing at all times.
