Get off auto and learn how to shoot portraits, working with a professional model...

Professional photographer and Somerset Film Studio Manager Alistair Campbell will be running this 3 hour introduction into digital SLR Photography. Participants will be guided on how to use their own camera's buttons, menus and functions, with a technical focus on the essentials that are Shutter Speed, Aperture & ISO. The session will also cover artistic aspects exploring what makes good composition and how to make the best use of natural light. Please note that this is a practical course with a focus on Portrait Photography.

What does this course cover?
The course offers you the opportunity to
+ Learn the basics to be able to use your DSLR camera manually
+ Have the chance to take photographs with a professional model out on location in Bridgwater
+ Time to review what has been 'shot'
+ An overview of basic editing techniques and recommended software such as Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop.


Please note : If you are unable to bring your own DSLR along or do not have a camera of your own then do let us know! We have a limited number of cameras available for you to use - please do contact us in advance so that we can check availability for you.

Tutor Information:
As well as working part-time as studio technician Alistair works in commercial photography. He has worked for a number of years on Somerset Film commissions. In 2015 he was awarded Avant-Garde Portrait Photographer of the year .
