Aged 13 – 16 and love film? Have you always wondered how films are made? Want to increase your knowledge of filmmaking? This is your chance to come and call the shots to make a short scripted drama on this two day filmmaking activity.
You will work alongside professional filmmaking tutors who will guide you on how to use our filmmaking equipment and support you to make two short films. You will come up with a script (or use one that's been pre-prepared by Scriptwriter Richard Addison), work on pre-production storyboards & shot-lists, 'shoot' your film and discover the basics of editing using industry standard Final Cut Pro software.
What does this activity cover? Film production including directing, camera operation, clapper boarding, sound recording, editing and acting.
What will I need to bring? Lunch or money to buy lunch. Participation form signed by your parents. We may shoot outside on location so please bring a coat.
What will I learn? How to use a range of film production equipment and how to work effectively as a team on a film shoot.
Who will I be working with? You will be working with two experienced Somerset Film filmmakers as well as a group of like minded young people who also share your passion for film and filmmaking!
Information for parents/carers: This course is ideal for beginners and those with some prior knowledge of filmmaking. Those that participate that are aged 16 will be able to go onto apply for our BFI Film Academy and by doing the activity will have made work that can be included in their application form/portfolio.
