Online | Sound We See Revisited

Saturday, Mar 28, 2020 - Time: 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Five years ago the wonderful Paolo and Lisa from Echo Park Film Centre in Los Angeles took up residency at the Engine Room and worked with 32 emerging filmmakers to create a 24 minute documentary. Based on the avant garde city symphonies of the 1920’s, filmed on Super 8mm and processed using eco-friendly techniques, including tea, coffee and cider, the film took outs place amongst a series of similar films. At this Live-Streamed event, we’ll watch the film and be hosting an interview with Lisa and Paolo.

To watch tune in at 7pm on our Facebook page.

Film | Point of No Return

Friday, Jun 26, 2020 - Time: 7:00pm - 7:45pm

"A powerful wake-up call to action...as dramatic and thrilling as any cinematic space odyssey".

Soaring at 28,000 feet without a drop of fuel, nothing is predictable. Not the weather, not the technology. And certainly not the fate of a man, alone for five days in a fragile, first-of-its-kind aircraft with nothing but ocean below.

Point of No Return takes you behind the headlines of the first solar-powered flight around the world—where two courageous pilots take turns battling nature, their own crew, and sometimes logic itself, to achieve the impossible. Not just to make history, but to inspire a revolution.

Watch the trailer here.

Film | Motherload

Friday, Jul 31, 2020 - Time: 7:00pm - 9:30am

Come and watch the story of new mom Liz, as she searches for freedom and connection in a gas-powered, digital and divided world. Feeling trapped by her dependence on a car to transport her kids, Liz questions our cultural understanding of ‘comfort’. This documentary explores our cultural shift towards isolation and disconnection, and how this may affect our future.

Motherload Trailer 'Motherload' not only describes how the earliest bicycles facilitated women’s fight for the vote and made socioeconomically disadvantaged individuals mobile, but it also shows how 21st century bicycles are empowering mothers, families, communities and advocacy networks all around the world.
