Belong in Bridgwater aimed to strengthen community ties as the town negotiates this time of rapid growth and change. We wanted to work with local communities to explore what it means to 'Belong in Bridgwater'. What it means to belong in the town, and to be part of the local community? And equally, what does it feel like if you feel that you do not belong?

What makes Bridgwater feel like home to you?

Somerset Film supported the project by creating opportunities for local people from all backgrounds and of all ages to share their stories and experiences on film and tape and to reflect on what it means to belong here. These reflections were gathered to create an interactive exhibition at The Engine Room earlier this year.

We worked with Bridgwater YMCA Hamp Helpers group, Senior Citizens Forum, Sydenham Community Centre, AllStars and Fusion Young People's Support Groups and Bridgwater Salvation Army...
