The way we make, distribute, receive and exchange art is radically changing through the power of digital technology.
Ignite Somerset is dedicated to enabling arts makers and audiences in Somerset to harness the new opportunities afforded through digital technology to create and experience greater artistic excellence and innovation.
Building on the success of our productions and training for the learning disabled, JUMPcuts aims to develop greater opportunities and help to build the skill base in these communities. A partnership project with Biggerhouse Film.

BFI Film Academy is a 7+ day programme for 16 - 19 years get to take part in masterclasses from industry professionals, watch and discuss British and world cinema, make two short films and receive career signposting.
Supported by BFI, BAFTA and Pinewood Studios.
A partnership initiative between arts and education providers committed to empowering children and young people through dance, drama, media and visual arts.
Award winning family learning - An opportunity to have fun and learn together about all things digital including animation, photography, plus comic, music and film making. To participate an adult must be accompanied by a person under 16 and vice versa!
The Engine Room is an accessible community media centre located in Bridgwater’s High Street. The centre co-ordinates all our activity, hosts community organisation events as well as providing a cafe with internet access and facilities including licensed cinema, studio and edit suites.
Each year we gather the best short films made by Somerset filmmakers for inclusion on a DVD, which is distributed free to film societies and not-for-profit cinemas across the South West.

Over the past 15 years, from a start-up investment of just £5000, Somerset Film has generated over £4,500,000 investment for creative media arts in Somerset, having commissioned and employed over 200 arts and media professionals.
Our films have won awards from Canada to Croatia, and have been shown at festivals around the world…
We work with people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, prioritising those at risk of social or physical isolation or exclusion. Not just in Bridgwater, but right across Somerset with projects like Family Connections and Capture Burnham, and recently our satellite Pop-up initiative.
We also work with and train artists (of all disciplines) and businesses, in a predominantly rural setting, to develop ways to communicate more effectively and flourish using the internet and new digital technology.
