Presented by Somerset Unite Community....
“Perhaps the most important British Film since I, Daniel Blake” The Big Issue
This film explores the agenda behind the neglect, demolition and regeneration of council estates in the U.K. over the past thirty years. Narrated by Maxine Peake, the film reveals how individuals and communities are fighting against the state and private developers, as they try to save their homes from demolition, while investigating the decisions that turned a crisis into a tragedy.
The screening will follow a short presentation by Nick Hubbard Research and Campaigns Officer at Bridgwater'Citizens Advice Bureau on a recent housing report he has prepared titled "Home is Where The Heart Is", written for Sedgemoor District Council in preparation of the introduction of the Homelessness Prevention Act. You can read a summary of the report in advance here.
Tickets £3 | £10 solidarity payment: includes donation to Bridgwater Food Bank or bring items for donation.

Somerset Film Artist in Residence 2018
This residency was designed by Somerset Film to provide an opportunity for a recent graduate to explore the creative potential of digital technology at their base, The Engine Room in Bridgwater, Somerset.
Through social engagement, Shannon Watson uses her work as a platform to facilitate discussions around social situations. The result of this is often performative. From swimming lessons at the Tate, to a collaborative project with Imperfect Orchestra, in her work the viewer becomes a performer, a fluid position to be explored.
Open Studios is a countywide event co-ordinated by Somerset Art Works - we will showcase the results of Shannon's research and development inspired by her time at Somerset Film.
