Mental Health

Celeste

With the recent lockdowns mental health has once again come to the attention of the general public. Especially due to the isolation people have been going through. In this beautiful 2D side scroller, you play Madeline, who is attempting to climb Celeste Mountain. As she climbs, she must face her inner demons. This game does a fantastic job of showing what it is like to have Anxiety/Depression and shows real coping mechanisms that you use to manage the condition.

Tetris

Created all the way the back in 1984, by Alexey Pajitnov in Moscow and, until the fall of the Soviet Union, state owned. It has since become a worldwide phenomenon and with new versions still being released. So why is it good for mental health apart from getting the brain working? Well, it (Tetris) can help people who have suffered trauma of some kind. This is by stopping the brain establishing connections to traumatic memories that cause flashbacks, as it instead focusses on the visually demanding Tetris.
