Summer 2025
We are delighted to be working with the National Trust team at Dunster Castle to design and install all the media facilities to support Elizabeth Wood’s forthcoming exhibition 'Ripple Effect' Her innovative new artwork showcases the captivating intersections of science, art and conservation in an experimental piece combining moving image and immersive soundscapes to reveal the transformation is taking place on the River Aller on the Holnicote Estate.
Visitors will step into an atmospheric digital waterscape where vivid photographic projections and the mesmerising sounds of flowing water invite them to see the natural world in a new light inspired by in-depth research and extensive site visits to the Holnicote estate, Elizabeth's exhibition offers a powerful and poetic reflection on landscape restoration.
Somerset Film worked closely with Charlotte Burke, the land outdoors and nature participation officer for the National Trust to design and deliver this project. In addition to Ripple Effect, Waterscapes will feature a suite of free digital exhibits, including a virtual reality nature experience to allow visitors to see the natural world in a new light.
Working in an historic Grade One listed building has not been without its technical challenges, as every single item of equipment has to be freestanding. No nails, screws or any form of drilled fixings were allowed. Huge thanks to my Somerset Film colleagues Daniel Birch, Dan Gale and Lighting Designer Kev Stratton for overcoming the many technical challenges we faced.
Somerset Film was commissioned to produce four short films to accompany her exhibition. See 'Ripple Effect' at Dunster Castle Stables between the 24th of July and 1st of August.
