We're delighted to announce that Edie Evans has been selected as the Somerset Film Artist in Residence for 2026.

Working across sculpture, installation and ecology, Edie's practice is grounded in tactile, sensory-led processes that explore materiality, landscape and embodied making.

During the residency, Edie will develop Earthen Interface: Accessible Landscapes Through Digital Translation, a new body of research and creative practice investigating how physical materials, sound and digital technologies can come together through interaction and touch.

Using clay gathered from the Somerset landscape alongside field recording, projection and 3D scanning, the residency will provide a space to experiment with new technologies and methods of translating environmental experience into immersive installation work. Through this process, Edie will explore new approaches to accessibility, material storytelling and sensory engagement with landscape.

Hosted at The Engine Room, the residency will unfold over the coming year, with opportunities to share the project's development as it progresses.

We're excited to support Edie throughout the residency and look forward to sharing updates, insights and outcomes from this innovative exploration of landscape, technology and making.
