This 2 hour free workshop will give you an insight into behind-the-scenes roles for TV, Film and Theatre in our two-hour workshop delivered by Producer, Kate Byers (Bait) and Filmmaker, Will Stone (The Fence).
This workshop is part of the National Youth Theatre IGNITE Your Creativity partnership with Netflix, which provides free training opportunities to young people in the South West of England.
Will Stone is an RTS & BIFA nominated filmmaker from Bristol specialising in narrative screenwriting, directing and producing. Shortly after graduating Bournemouth University in 2017 he produced a series of successful short films gathering millions of views online. His debut feature film "The Fence" released theatrically in September of 2022 and later premiered on national television with FILM 4.
Kate Byers is a BAFTA and BIFA award winning producer and founder of Early Day Films with producing partner Linn Waite. Their current feature film, MISSION written and directed by BAFTA winning Paul Wright with George MacKay and Rosy McEwan is in post-production and financed by Screen Scotland, BBC Film and Ffilm Cymru. Early Day Films produced BAIT written and directed by Mark Jenkin. It won a BAFTA nomination for Outstanding British Film 2020 and was awarded Outstanding Debut following a world premiere to critical acclaim at Berlinale in 2019.
Her path to producing was through short film where she began working with Linn. Credits SEPTEMBER written and directed by Esther-May Campbell, took the BAFTA for Best Short Film. Her recent shorts HARD,CRACKED THE WIND and SEAGULL screened internationally at festivals in 2021.
Kate mentors for BFI NETWORK, has served on the jury at Encounters 2025, delivers guest Q&A to the Producer Lab, and round-tables for BAFTA Connect.
Living and working in Bristol, regionality is at the heart of the films she makes.
